KLPD chooses FIGO

Dutch State Police specialist team selects FIGO

The Dutch State Police has formed a specialist team to be called into immediate action for large scale forensic investigation or reclaiming and identifying large numbers of casualties. Team members are specialists from standing Police orgainzations who can be called upon as the situation demands. The Team functions anywhere in the Netherlands.

The official designation of the Team is "Landelijk Team Forensische Opsporing (LTFO)", State Team Forensic Investigation.

The Team can be on the spot of an incident within two and a half hours and within five hours it is fully operational. More on the Team in the website of the Dutch police (in Dutch) - easiest access to these pages is through Google: search for LTFO.

Incidents can happen in remote areas. As the Team's work requires intensive exchange of information, the Team is self sufficient in its means of communication. This is the more important as resque services, the press and the public need to use the available local communication channels. These channels then get clogged.

Good communications are essential for the Team. They support fast recovery of casualties and immediate investigation of traces while these are still fresh. The necessary communications links must be made in a short time, in any spot, in random configurations. This configuration also needs to be easily extended and altered.

FIGO networks by WMC solve the Team's high communication demands. As of Spring 2011 FIGO systems are operational with the Team. An article in the monthly Verbinding (in Dutch) details the tasks of the Team and how it operates. It also describes the first large scale exercise of the Team during which the own FIGO system was heavily used.

WMC considers the State Police Team's choice for FIGO as further proof that WMC supplies communication systems that answer the highest demands on reliability, availability and flexibility.
